Our scholarship at a glance
Our Future of Energy Engineering Scholarships program is quite unique.
If you’re studying engineering at a Queensland university, you could get paid $20,000 while you study, and gain work experience with us.
We’ve structured the program to provide a range of support and career opportunities through scholarship payments, vacation work and pathways to assist in application to our graduate program.
There are 100 scholarships available with the chance to receive $20,000 per academic year, each year until you graduate.
The 100 scholarships will be distributed across the following years of study:
- 2nd year students (and other years greater than second year but less than penultimate year)
- Penultimate year students (second last year of study)
- Final year students.
Degree criteria
The majority of scholarships will be awarded to students studying electrical / electronic engineering degrees.
Students studying dual / double degrees in electrical engineering are highly valued and will be viewed favourably. Examples of the types of dual degrees and majors that we believe compliment electrical engineering degrees include:

Paid vacation work
As part of the program, you’ll participate in paid vacation opportunities giving you valuable experience working and collaborating with experts in new and emerging technologies that support Australia’s largest electricity network.
This work experience would typically be completed in the university semester breaks and contribute towards any compulsory work placement your degree requires.

Graduate opportunities
On the completion of your degree and scholarship program with us, you’ll have the chance to consider and apply for graduate opportunities.
Similar to our vacation placements, this could be in the distribution network businesses – Ergon Energy and Energex – or our innovative energy solutions business Yurika, and you may be based at a range of locations across Queensland.
Our highly sought-after Graduate Program offers mentors, rotations to broaden your experiences, learning and development, while working alongside experts and working with new and emerging technologies.
