Our scholarship at a glance
Our Future of Energy Engineering Scholarships program is quite unique.
If you’re studying engineering at a Queensland university, you could get paid $20,000 while you study, and gain work experience with us.
We’ve structured the program to provide a range of support and career opportunities through scholarship payments, vacation work and pathways to assist in application to our graduate program.
There are 100 scholarships available with the chance to receive $20,000 per academic year, each year until you graduate.
The 100 scholarships will be distributed across the following years of study:
- 2nd year students (and other years greater than second year but less than penultimate year)
- Penultimate year students (second last year of study)
- Final year students.
The majority of scholarships will be awarded to students studying electrical / electronic engineering degrees.
Students studying dual / double degrees in electrical engineering are highly valued and will be viewed favourably. Examples of the types of dual degrees and majors that we believe compliment electrical engineering degrees include:
Computer & Software Systems|
Engineering - Mechatronics
Engineering - Mechanical
Engineering - Civil/Structural
Information & Communications Technology
Technology & Innovation
Computer Systems Engineering
Electronic Systems & Internet of Things
Software Information Systems
Statistics & Data Analyst
We will offer a number of the scholarships to complimentary engineering disciplines (could be single or double) including mechatronic, mechanical, and civil / structural.
Students undertaking the University of Queensland Integrated Bachelor and Masters Degree (5 year) and the Central Queensland University Bachelor of Engineering (honours) and Diploma of Professional Practice (co-op engineering) (4.5 year) are also encouraged to apply.
Our commitment across Queensland
Our intention is to spread the scholarships evenly across regional Queensland and South East Queensland.
We're offering this scholarship opportunity to successful students of the seven Queensland universities with electrical engineering faculties.
The eligible Queensland universities have been classified as regional or South East Queensland as set out below:
|Regional Queensland Locations|
|South East Queensland Locations|
Our commitment to diversity
We’ll be considering diversity of applicants to ensure our future workforce is reflective of the communities in which we operate. First nations and women who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply.
Paid vacation work
As part of the program, you’ll participate in paid vacation opportunities giving you valuable experience working and collaborating with experts in new and emerging technologies that support Australia’s largest electricity network.
This work experience would typically be completed in the university semester breaks and contribute towards any compulsory work placement your degree requires.
Visit the earn while you learn page for further information.
On the completion of your degree and scholarship program with us, you’ll have the chance to consider and apply for graduate opportunities.
Similar to our vacation placements, this could be in the distribution network businesses – Ergon Energy and Energex – or our innovative energy solutions business Yurika, and you may be based at a range of locations across Queensland.
Our highly sought-after Graduate Program offers mentors, rotations to broaden your experiences, learning and development, while working alongside experts and working with new and emerging technologies.
