Vacation work

Our Future of Energy Engineering scholarship recipients are provided the opportunity for paid real life work opportunities. This typically involves joining us for a vacation placement during the summer break for up to 12 weeks from November to February.

Students work on a range of exciting and leading practice projects to help us build the network of the future.

The vacation program at a glance

What to expect:

As a scholarship student in our vacation program you will be:

  • involved in interesting and varied projects that challenge and provide you with the experience to develop your engineering knowledge and skills
  • given challenging work assignments under the supervision of engineers and technical specialists so you can learn from our experts
  • supported by approachable and knowledgeable people to develop your skills.

Typical duration:

Placements run for up to 12 weeks from November to February.

Year of study:

From 2nd year to final year students.

Locations:

Vacation work could take place at various locations across Queensland including: Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Toowoomba and Brisbane.

Degrees:

The majority of students will be studying electrical, electronic, power and mechatronics engineering, with some studying mechanical, civil and structural engineering.

Some students will also be studying dual / double degrees in electrical engineering or an Integrated Master degree.

Who can apply?

Priority will be given to Future of Energy Engineering Scholarship recipients for vacation placements. We encourage you to apply for one of our scholarships (eligibility criteria) if you would like to access exciting paid work opportunities while you study.

Applications must be made through the Future of Energy Engineering Scholarships program, as its now the primary pathway into our vacation work program.
